I Love Typography—really, I do 0

I Love Typography

I Love Typography is an amazing site for anyone who has an addiction to typography, which probably means you’re a graphic designer of sorts. They produce so much great content I find it difficult keeping up and often gets stuck on my ‘list of things to do when I have more time’. One of the best things about their blog is it’s been expertly crafted to demonstrate the love of typography but in a webpage which can inherently by quite restrictive and unpredictable when it comes to typography. So hats off to thier designers/css coders for their efforts.∑

They’ve recently done a feature recapping the best typefaces of 2008 which is definitely worth a butchers at. I’m loving Face Buster—maybe I can use it in some artwork in 2009?

Papparazzi 0

Papparazzi

Papparazzi is a very cool little app for the mac which allows you to capture the full length of a webpage. Extremely useful for taking screen grabs when blogging, producing visuals or displaying completed work.

Something I’ve been meaning to share for a while.

Pixel Junk Eden 0

Following on from my last post on the PS3, my brother introduced me to Pixel Junk Eden on the PS3. Simple but beautifully realised, it makes me a little jealous not to be working on the visual side of the games industry rather than being a graphic designer. But more so that that there’s nothing really that similar or that has the unique flare of these small titles on the Xbox 360. The only comparable game that springs to mind is Rez, but even that started out as a PS2 original and is now available on the Xbox 360 Market Place.

If you own either consoles I highly suggest checking out Rez for its unique mix of audio and visual exploration of wireframe landscapes like those in the classic Disney movie, Tron. Oh and friend me up on Xbox Live; julius hibert whilst you’re at it. I’ll probably be online playing Left 4 Dead—a very nice Christmas present if on the gory side.

Little Big Planet TV adverts 0

Whilst I’ve been home for the holidays, I’ve managed to indulge in some good old family fun on the PS3, playing the great Little Big Planet—I got a hands on preview of the game, back in the summer. It’s a charming and sweet little game that exudes attention to detail and creativity which is reflected in their UK TV advertising campaign. It’s definitely being pushed as one of Sony Playstation’s bigger titles this year it deserves every bit of praise.

So sit back and enjoy these short little spots that show off how great the game is. If you fancy watching a full review of the game, check out my brother’s Little Big Planet Gamespot video review that he shot earlier in the year.

Making of ‘The Seed’ by John Kelly 0

Stunning animation showing the making of The Seed by John Kelly. The Seed is an short animation created for Adobe to promote their latest line of products, Creative Suite 4. Simple and well crafted, this animation shows of the wit and attention to detail that Kelly demonstrated in his hit animation last year, Procrastination.

Farmboy Yetis 0

Yetis Yetis

I’ve been busy again making some of my knitted monsters called yetis. One that I finished a while back for friend and illustrator Emily Sutton, sent me some photos of him on a building site of her new house which I thought I’d share.

If you’ve bought one of my Yetis, I’d love for you to send me some photo’s of it in their new habit. Send them to made[at]sansgil.com.

Happy Christmas & update 0

Happy Christmas Happy Christmas

In the festive spirit/in advance, he’s some genius illustrations from Chicago-based designer, Beau Bergeron (and snapped by SimonK).

Via CR Blog

On a side note, for those who are reading this via my website rather than the RSS feed, you’ll of noticed a new look to my blog. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a while and I’m pretty keen on the new look though it still needs some tweaking. Perhaps it’s just a festive look or something that’ll carry on into the New Year. Who knows… but I’ll keep you posted.

Happy Christmas!

Crochet Dunny 0

Dunny

The very talent and one of my favorite knitters-all-round-crafty-folk, Nicole Gastonguay has just finished this mighty creation. Based on the popular Dunny figures which come in many different designs or even personalized by various well known designers, it’s the first time a blank one has ever been made of yarn (to my knowledge).

There’s a load of production shots on her blog which I advise checking out. Hopefully they might go on sale soon—fingers crossed.
