French fashion label and online retailer Kitsune have put together another episode to advertise their next seasons collection. A simple playful idea sees two models pitted against each other to see who can get dressed and undressed the quickest using the newest season’s clothing from Kitsune. Produced like a boxing match but without the sandwich board-touting-women, the first to get changed the quickest and select the next track gets a cheeky peck on the cheek from the loser.

Kitsune have produced a series of similar advertisements all in different locations to reflect the inspiration for each ready to wear collection. Both niche and main stream fashion brands have a symbiotic relationship with creativity and it’s pretty easy to real off a list of labels that are breaking ground when it comes to promotion. Though Kitsune aren’t breaking ground with these shorts, the idea which helps to promote both the latest fashion line and their pending CD release (mixed by a guest artist) which plays in the background works really well for this label. There’s a quintessential french feel to the whole thing be it the models french swagger or the air of contemporary Parisian music even though the on screen graphics do suck quite a bit. Despite that it’ll be interesting to see their next episode and accompanying CD release.

Now for the rest of the previous episodes.

Whilst research for some visual references for a brief last week I came across Ghostly Ferns a good little source of visual inspiration from Meg Lewis. A designer and merchandiser with her own line of vintage clothing it’s not surprise that the majority of the content has a fashion and interiors undertone. Certainly worth having a look through next time you’re looking for some design, fashion, interior or photographic delights.

Sarah Thorne has been getting her fair share of publicity amongst everyone’s favourite design blogs recently. She deserves it with good credit as well, especially for her most recent success with TopShop’s recent makeup range. Full of character and finesse in it’s own way, it must be extremely gratifying walking down Oxford Street seeing your mark clutched in the hands of many happy shoppers.

In reflection TopShop’s in-house creative team have been doing a sterling job over the last couple of years to churn out some stunning work for a progressive brand really helping to shape some great future designers. Shaz Madani is a name that springs to mind of riding the TopShop success coat tails recently.

Looking back over the last couple of weeks, it seems like I’ve been reading a lot of fashion related content—no surprise tailing off LFW a few weeks back and the subsequent submissions that come in to FFF every week. One thing that caught my eye was the well executed work super star designer Athony Burril completed for Jenny Packham catwalk show ‘Alive – Autumn/Winter 2010 collection’ which launched at London Fashion Week.

Typical geometric patterns—that Burril has been exploring in his work recently—the grandure of scale and lighting create a stunning environment and complimented by the invite design create a unity that makes for an visually beautiful show.

You can see more shots of the stage design on Anthony’s flickr and a full collection of garments on show on London Fashion Week.

The V&A in South Kensington is probably one of my favourite galleries in London because of it’s amazing architecture and stunning collections. I took the chance whilst I had some time off earlier in the week to go check out an exhibition about digital interaction and art called Decode. I shot a fair bit of video and a lot of photos which are going up on my flickr and vimeo.

In the mean time though I also had a mosey around the Fashion collection where they had a special exhibit on by Royal College of Art students and graduates called Future Fashion Now alongside the permanent fashion collection.

On show were some amazing examples of garment design and tailoring showing off a lot of technical competence in making clothes. A few pieces stuck out in my mind including this oversized gold embellished cable dress knitted on these huge metre long knitting needles. As well as a few others including this very soft knitted pattern dress that was slightly felted. There’s plenty more photos from this temporary exhibition on the SansGil flickr and you can find full details of the Future Fashion Now exhibition on the V&A website.

I love the idea behind this collection of screen printed stockings. Lots of really interesting patterns and witty interpretations to make any pair of long, luscious and alluring legs into a work of art.
