To mark the 40th anniversary of beloved luxury fashion brand, Mulberry have released a new book that offers a candid glimpse into a quintessentially English fashion brand. Design and Art Direction has been provided by London’s Construct who have worked with Mulberry very closely. Rather than taking a dry historical look into Mulberry’s past the book depicts both the public and private life, highs and lows of the Mulberry ‘family’ that have worked so  hard together. This is accompanied by documentation of behinds the scenes at Mulberry’s Somerset factory—the last brand-owned luxury accessories factory in the UK.

Finished to a expectedly high standard, hard bound with a quarter cloth bind, bookmark ribbons and 480pages of content—weighing in as a real beastly tome.

The book is available through Mulberry boutiques, national and international bookstores for around £55.

Jet setter Hampus Jageland has refreshed his online portfolio with new work. Sticking to extremely clean simple and often minimal design with the occasional visual wit such as on the Edgeboard stationery. Hampus has also done a sterling job on a lovely photographic book Khampa and refined branding for Maud, the agency he used to work at whilst living in Australia.

Tomorrow night sees the opening of AMOS’s Miniature Plastic Workshop at KK Outlet in Hoxton Square, London. There will be a retrospective of their iconic vinyl toys alongside a pop-up store selling rare and sold out collectibles from the AMOS back catalogue.

Produced specially for the space, AMOS have created a series of 5ft figures and artist James Jarvis who created the iconic look of the characters, will be exhibiting recent drawings. Showing in the back room at KK Outlet, these drawings focus on Jarvis’ interested and obsessions from the past couple of years.

The exhibition runs from 6th – 31st May 2011.

Formerly Blue River but now called Founded, the Newcastle based agency have been through some major changes lately whilst still keeping a high standard of work. Completely redesigning their agency website and updating it with new and old work. They’ve been lucky enough to work with one of the North East’s best Art’s venues the Baltic and the quality and volume of work for them is envy inducing. Beautiful typography and layout work.

Founded have also moved studios which we managed to see a little of and the space is impressive. Speaking with Anthony from Founded;

We’ve recently moved to an amazing new space, the historic Stephenson Works building. The building, almost 200 years old, was the worlds first ever locomotive workshop and the long-time working home of Robert Stephenson.

Robert Stephenson (1803 – 1859), an MP and North East entrepreneur, was one of the founding fathers of the railway age. He designed and built the Rocket, the first passenger locomotive.

We Are Young have just updated their site with new work. Continuing in their bold graphic and often vector style there’s some really sweet bits and pieces for the likes of Qubiq and Datum. They’ve also expanded into more animation work with the help of Yum Yum and in turn taking the time to update and revist their extremely successful Learn Something Every Day. Applying that same wit to animating these tiny splashes of ‘Did You Know…’

Ever since encountering the world of Bompas and Parr a couple of years ago I’m always intrigued and amazed with the culinary experiments. Gestalten recently caught up with the jelly duo to interview them about their work and business in South London which specialise in creating sensory based events revolving around food and drink. The video Bompas and Parr: Return of the Jelly Knights offer an insight into the combination of history and current tech as integral part of Bompas and Parr’s work.

Rock solid lettering and typography work from Louise Fili. Working on everything from book jackets to branding, Fili who practised under Herb Lubalin never fails to bring type to life through ornate and seductive line work with tones of character.

Legendary typographer and designer Erik Spiekermann was recenetly announced as the winner of the German Design Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. In celebration the good folks at Gesalten.tv have put together this short (14min) interview with the man himself.

Offering brief insights into a variety of aspects influencing Spiekerman’s work from the similarities between music and typeface design, the process and influences in his work, advice on becoming a better designer and surprisingly political views on the role good and bad communication plays in the state. What’s really refreshing about Spiekermann’s approach though is his honesty to the whole process, surrounding himself with talented individuals who’s specialities surpass his own abilities in that area whilst clearly acknowledging the best work is the product of successful teams and, only in the rare cases, of one sole individual. We couldn’t agree more.
