SMUG photos from WeHeart Blog

I just had a very nice email through from Lizzie over at SMUG about the store and a couple of my yetis have been mentioned on the WeHeart design blog. Though they don’t talk directly about my yetis in any detail, clearly they were a deciding factor on making the editorial cut and can be seen dotted around the shop.

Whilst we’ve had a rather snowy winter over the last month here in the UK, I wrapped up warm packed my photography bag and went out treking through the new Arctic tundras to spot some of my yetis in their natural habitat.

If you’re keen to try and track some wild ones yourself, they love the cold crisp snow and are usually found in wood lands or wandering up the side of mountains.

There’s a whole set of yetis in their natural habitat over on my flickr.

Yetis photographed at SMUG—Now on sale in London 0

Yetis on Sale at Smug—February 2010

I’ve had an amazingly productive and visually delightful week so far. Early on I managed to fit in a visit to SMUG in Angel, London who have recently started stocking my yetis. I took the chance to get some snaps of the little guys on location in their new migratory home before going on to better families.

Yetis on Sale at Smug—February 2010

SMUG is an amazing little boutique store and so it’s a real pleasure to have my products on sale at such a chic place. It’s definitely worth a trip to have a look around and see the amazing floor on the top level which has been made of reclaimed wood to create a criss-cross checkered pattern.

My yetis are also available for sale through SMUG’s website with pictures of all the yetis they currently have in stock. I’m also excited to say that I’m working on permanent site for my yetis to call home online, to help bring together all the various photographs and information about them as well as a place to buy them directly from myself.

Like always I’ve uploaded a whole set of photographs of the yetis in SMUG which can be found on my flickr along with plenty of photographs of most of the yetis I’ve made over the last four years.

I’ve just finished saying another heart felt (no pun intended) goodbye to another famly of yetis who are now on there way to Lizzie at SMUG in Angel.

Before packing their bags and leaving for their adopted families, I took some photographs of them all.

They’ll be available at SMUG very soon so if you’re in London, head over to Angel and go have a looksy.

FormFiftyFive interviews Fred Deakin of Airside 0

After a lot of hard work and late nights I finished working on video for FormFiftyFive interviewing Fred Deakin. Creative director of Airside and one half of Lemon Jelly, Fred Deakin is a design and music hero of mine so it was a pleasure to be given the opportunity to get some of my questions answered by Fred and work on editing and motion graphics for the final video.

There’s more information over at FormFiftyFive and would love to hear your comments and thoughts. We’ve also lined up our next interview with the very talented illustrator, Hellovon. I’m on to work on this next interview which should be very interesting.

Everybody loves a snow day and some Threadless t-shirts 0

Threadless

Wow what a day, I managed to secure the day off work thanks to the freakish weather in the UK over the last few days and had an amazingly productive morning thanks to my house mate by building a monster of a snow dude. Personally, I feel it was a morning well used.

So in celebration of the wintery weather here’s a couple of new tee designs that caught my eye today including this years winner of Threadless Bestee—which reminds me of the foxes we get roaming the streets of London at night.

Threadless Threadless

Very Rob Ryan-esque.

Oh and also I secured a place on DayTum, but more to come on that soon.

Sarah’s Yetis 0

I’ve been busy again making more and more yetis, this time for a friend north of the border in Edinburgh. I took some photos (the last few in this set) of them before sending them out a few weeks ago but never got round to publishing them on here.

They’re made from alpacha yarn that give them a beautiful chunky, soft look and feel. The yarn came all the way from The Yarn Tree in New York. If I’m ever across again I’ll have to stop by and check it out—I’m told it’s an amazing shop.

Yetis Yetis

I’ve been busy again making some of my knitted monsters called yetis. One that I finished a while back for friend and illustrator Emily Sutton, sent me some photos of him on a building site of her new house which I thought I’d share.

If you’ve bought one of my Yetis, I’d love for you to send me some photo’s of it in their new habit. Send them to made[at]sansgil.com.

Christmas by Colour 0

Christmas By Colour Christmas By Colour

It’s been a while since I last posted, but here’s a little something in the festive spirit. Raw, an agency based in Manchester invited people to submit colours (less traditional the better) that they associated with Christmas, for a project called Christmas by Colour. One of mine was picked and has been put on the poster, pictured top.

Check out the progress on the Christmas by Colour Blog. The poster should be available to buy very soon so head over to the Christmas by Colour Shop and snap one up. After all it’s for charity.

Thanks again to Rob at Raw for getting in contact with me.

O Street Studio 0

Back in August I had the pleasure of doing some work for o street, an agency based in a beautiful area on the edge of Glasgow’s West End— I had some of the best sandwiches in ages whilst there. It was a great environment to work in with a really small team of people, which made me feel like I made a real impression on both those around me and on the clients brief. One of the best things about it was their open and spacious apartment studio which I managed to take some snaps of before leaving. If that’s not enough for you there’s some more over at this flickr set showing off more of their studio and they’re peseta resistance, table tennis table that’s the focal point of the studio.

Whilst on the subject, I’ll be posting up some of the work I did whilst at o street on my site over the next week, hopefully.
